Great week ahead: see yee at Bolzano, Rotterdam, Aix en Provence, Ghent & Brussels!

July 3, 2017

What a great way to kick-off summer and the music festival season! This week, we'll be travelling to 4 different countries, as our bands will be playing at 5 different renowned jazz festivals.

LABtrio

In February, LABtrio released its third album 'Nature City' (Outhere Records), which celebrates the band's 10th anniversary already. This week, the three musicians proudly present this new repertoire to the crowd of Bolzano during the 35th edition of Südtirol Jazzfestival Alto Adige. For the trio, it will be a first in Italy. In October they'll continue touring in this beautiful country.

Next, the triad plays in Rotterdam (Volga, Ahoy) at the renowned North Sea Jazz Festival (Friday, July 7) and a homegame during the Gent Jazz Festival (Sunday, July 9).

De Beren Gieren & Warped Dreamer

Also playing at Südtirol Jazzfestival Alto Adige are De Beren Gieren (Saturday, July 8) & Warped Dreamer (Wednesday, July 5).

Long after the release of their first album 'Lomahongva' last year, praises for Warped Dreamer keep pouring in. It's hard to see this adventurous quartet perform due to the musicians' individually busy agendas. So, this festival is an excellent opportunity to see the band play, in the beautiful setting of the mountains.

This fall, De Beren Gieren will release a new album. Come see the band perform their successful repertoire of album 'One Mirrors Many' for the very last time on this festival. A unique ending for a great series of concerts with this album!

Lynn Cassiers' Imaginary Band

Lynn Cassiers was invited by Brosella Folk & Jazz Festival to compose for Carte Blanche Jazz (Sunday, July 9). The singer has been dreaming of her own band in which she fills the role of artistic director & composer for a while. So, for the occasion, she invited Alexandra Grimal (sax), Ananta Roossens (violin & trumpet), Niels Van Heertum (euphonium), Erik Vermeulen (piano), Manolo Cabras (double bass) and Marek Patrman (drums) to form septet 'Imaginary Band'. Expect a unique mix of voice and electronics with an acoustic ensemble that will charm every jazz lover!

Aka Moon

For their concert this Sunday (9/7) at Festival Aix en Provence, Aka Moon invited musicians from previous projects to put the Mediterranean in the spotlight. Rising to the multicultural challenge and leaving plenty of room for improvisation, the colourful compositions of this programme form a bridge between the music of the Arab world and that of the Balkans, exploring every aspect of their fruitful combination.
